Brotherhood Men's Retreat

May 13th & 14th

We will left Atlanta at 5 am on May 13th. The weather was looking good for our two day stay.

We arrived at Myrtle Beach around 12:45 and went immediately to the Bass Pro Shop.

Most of us bought needed supplies like lures, weights and hats. All the hats came with warranties, guaranteed to catch fish. A lot of bikers were around and we figured out that it was biker weekend.

We decided to go to my favorite restaurant "The Seafood Hut." So we went up to North Carolina and went to the "hut."

We only had to wait until I took this picture and then we were motioned to come inside. The specials for the day was hamburger and shrimp dinners. You got a drink, coleslaw, hushpuppies and either shrimp or hamburger and all for the price of $7. After that we checked into the hotel and found out that it was very close to the place where we would meet up with Captain Ryan the next morning. The Cherry Grove pier was pretty close to the hotel also.

At 4:30 pm, we fished at Cherry Grove Pier until 9:30 pm that night.

We caught bluefish, sharks, whiting and pinfish.

At 7 am, we meet up with Captain Ryan and headed out for the Atlantic. We went two miles out and caught lots of sea bass, bluefish, pinfish and Spanish mackerel. Captain Ryan is holding on of the smaller sea bass that we threw back.

The Spanish mackerel were jumping all over the place but only hit a few times. Our oyster snagging champ is below. Nothing but shell.

Then, the action died down and we heading to the jetties. Captain Ryan had a few crab pots out and he broke off one claw of the crabs. (They grow another one)

We were getting bites from flounder but no takers. We also tried for some reds but again they were finicky. Shortly after 11 am we were back at the dock.

Captain Ryan was a great guide and we are planning another trip with him in the fall for the big reds and the big Spanish mackerel. We headed back to Atlanta around 12:30 and were back home around 7:30. We were all tired from a very good time at the "Beach." Below is a YouTube presentation of our trip.
