Recent Events July 4, 2010 - 6 pm - Family Night Cookout - We had a great get together with plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, sweet tea and plenty of desserts. All who came left with a good meal in their stomachs. No one left hungry. July 4, 2010 - 11 am - Patriotic Service - It was a wonderful service and even Ms Statute of Liberty showed up. The singing was great and everyone got into the patriotic spirit. June 25, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry." Some say this was the best movie yet. Come next time for an enjoyable Friday night. Relax watch the movie and eat popcorn and have soft drinks.
June 13, 2010 - 11 am - Baptism - We had three people baptized today. It was a good way to start off the worship service. After the service, each person received a certificate of baptism and a Bible.
June 12, 2010 - 11 am - 2 pm - BBQ - The meal was delicious and we sold 150 plates of food that was fit for a king.
We thank God for a great BBQ. Without his help we would have been short on food. We had just enough baked beans to fill all of the plates. The pig was supposed to weigh 140 pounds but when we went to pick it up there was only a 92 pound pig or a 205 pound pig. They gave us the 205 pound pig for the price of the 140 pound pig. Without the extra 65 pounds, we would have not have had enough BBQ. June 11, 2010 - 4 pm - The BBQ experts noticed one of our trees was rotten to the core.
And, then they started to cook the pig. It took all night to get the meat cooked but it sure was worth the trouble.

June 6, 2010 - Homecoming - We had 152 in attendance for Homecoming this year. Click here for the webpage with pictures. June 5, 2010 - 3 pm - Ballet Recital - The ballet dancers put on quite a show. Click here for the webpage May 31, 2010 - Memorial Day - We had a worship service that included a tribute to our military. At one point the 12 veterans came forward. It was a very touching moment. May 21, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "The Inheritance." Everyone enjoyed the movie. Come next time for a good movie, popcorn, drinks and fellowship.
May 13, 2010 - 12 noon - Keenagers May 13-14, 2010 - 2nd Annual Brotherhood Fishing Trip - For details of the trip click info May 8, 2010 - 11am - Ballet - The ballet students performed for the residents of ManorCare at 11 am Saturday, May 8th. Below are a picture and lots of video of the performance. They all did a great job and after the performance they handed out goody baskets to all the residents.
May 2, 2010 - 6 pm - Family Night Cookout - We had a feast of hamburgers and hotdogs and all the trimmings. 90 people were present to enjoying the wonderful meal and to fellowship with one another.
May 1, 2010 - The Sonshiners were going on a picnic Saturday @ 2 pm to Stone Mountain Park. Here is what the skies looked like @ 2 pm.
We'll decided to stay at the church and have our picnic. We cooked the hamburgers, hotdogs and polish sausage all the time that Lee, our photographer was taking pictures.
When the cooking was done we just pigged out on all of the good food.
April 30, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "No Greater Love". It is a great movie and everyone enjoyed it. Come and join us. The admission is free and we have popcorn and soft drinks.
April 25, 2010 - 11 am - Meet our newest member Sam. She made a confession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and joined our church.
April 21, 2010 - 7 pm - Worship service - Barry Phillips was at our church Wednesday night and he brought a terrific message. It is always great to see Barry and his wife, Lilia. April 20, 2010 - 12 noon - WMU - Lilia Phillips was the guest speaker and everyone enjoyed listening to her. April 17, 2010 - Kid's Fishing Day - We took the kids that are under 16 years of age fishing. April 4, 2010 - 11 am - The choir sang their musical "Because He Lives." They did a wonderful job. April 4, 2010 - 10 am - The play "I Saw Him" was put on by the children and Sonshiners. Inanimate objects told the story of Easter. I had to split up the play into two parts. April 4, 2010 - 7 am - Sunrise service - The Sunrise service was at 7 am and a full breakfast was served immediately following the service. A good way to start Easter.
April 3, 2010 - 11 am - Easter Egg Hunt - We had a good group of kids for the Easter Egg hunt. They all had a good time and each child took a bunch of eggs home with them. March 28, 2010 - 11 am - Ballet classes performed during the morning worship services and they did a great job. The two links will take you to YouTube where you can see the video of the performances. March 26, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "Walking Across Egypt." Another great movie! Everyone enjoyed it. Come next month, eat some popcorn, have a soft drink and enjoy a good movie.
March 19, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - We showed "Clancy" again. The admission was free and we had popcorn and soft drinks.
March 7, 2010 - 6 pm - Family Night Supper - we had a wonderful meal. It is a pot luck dinner. The food is always the best and the people of Valley Brook are a friendly and loving bunch. Come next month. You'll be glad you did. February 28, 2010 - 11:00 - Kerry Jackson - He is a NAMB missionary and artist. Today, he and his wife, Twyla, came to Valley Brook to tell us about their ministry and to lead in worship through his art. Here is a link to a website about Kerry. February 26, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "Clancy." The webmaster rated this movie with five gold stars and was told that this was the best movie ever shown at Valley Brook. Come and join us next time. The admission was free and we had popcorn and soft drinks.
February 23, 2010 - 12 noon - WMU - The WMU met and had a good meal and meeting. It was Caroline's birthday and we gave her a cake (cup cake that is) for her birthday. They will be collecting for "Buckets of Hope" for the people of Haiti. There will be a meeting on March 9th at 1 pm to assemble the buckets that Valley Brook will be sending.
February 14, 2010 - 6 pm - Family Night Valentine Supper - In addition to the supper, we'll had two special guests, Ron & Deborah Cole. Everyone enjoyed their singing and the food was superb. Here is a link for more information on the Coles. Link January 31, 2010 - 6 pm - 5th Sunday Night Sing - We had a lot of good singing with solos, duets, trios and playing of the spoons. Everyone had a great time singing their favorite songs.
January 29, 2010 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was the "The Ultimate Gift." The admission was free and we had popcorn and soft drinks. You missed a good movie if you did not come. Next month, we'll be showing another great movie, "Clancy."
January 3, 2010 - 6 pm - Family Night Supper - We had a soup and cornbread meal and it was fit for a king. Come join us next month for a great meal and you can talk with the great folks of Valley Brook. December 31, 2009 - 10:30 pm - Watch Night Service - We had finger food and fellowship and then we went to the Sanctuary for the Watch Night Service. December 20, 2009 - 6 pm - Lessons in Carols December 20, 2009 - 11 am - Musical - The choir did a splendid job with their musical, "The Christmas Story." December 19, 2009 - 12 noon - 2 pm - The Valley Brook Community Center Dance Lecture Demonstration began at 12:00 p.m. The students showed the parents and the community what they have learned during the six weeks of training. The demonstration was a success and all the students did a great job. December 6, 2009 - 6 pm - Christmas Dinner - We had our Christmas dinner and 82 showed up for a wonderful time. The Sonshiners class put on a show. Click the link for pictures and the video of the show. The Link December 2, 2009 - 7 pm - Our guest speaker was Chris Grove who is a missionary to Mongolia. He had a wonderful presentation about his mission to Mongolia and his reaching out to the Nomads of Mongolia. His wife and four children were at Valley Brook and they all sang a song from Mongolia. November 29, 2009 - 6 pm - Hanging of the Green - It was a beautiful service and everyone who came said it was the best "Hanging of the Green" service ever. November 26, 2009 - Thanksgiving meal - This was the 4th annual Thanksgiving meal that was served at the church fellowship hall. It was in memory of Lynn Phillips who passed away early this year. She started this event so that people without families in the area could get together and have a meal together. After the meal, was a movie entitled "Second Glance." Everyone had an enjoyable time.

October 31, 2009 - 6 pm - Trunk 'r Treat - A lot of people showed up for the annual Trunk 'r Treat even though there was light rain on and off.
October 30, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "Another Perfect Stranger." A lot of people were present and they all enjoyed the movie. Come next month and enjoy a movie, popcorn and drinks. It is all free but you can give a dollar or two to help replenish the popcorn and drinks.
October 23, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Move - We had a second showing of The Perfect Stranger. The sequel "Another Perfect Stranger" will show Friday night, October 30th at 7 pm.

September 26, 2009 - 8 am - 2 pm - Yard Sale - The tables were free and we had quite a turnout despite the threat of rain.
September 25, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Move - The movie was be "A Perfect Stranger." The sequel will be next month "Another Perfect Stranger. The movie was free and there is popcorn and drinks at no cost unless you want to donate.
September 24, 2009 - 7:00 pm - Beth Moore Bible Study Group - This was a very interesting Bible study with some footage of the Holy Lands. For more info click This Link. This was the last of the "Jesus, the One and Only."
September 20, 2009 - Deacon's Cookout - The cookout was a tremendous success. The food was great adn there was a lot of it. We had a good turnout and everyone had a good time. August 24-25, 2009 - Pictures were taken for the Valley Brook pictorial directory. The pictorial directory might be out in October. Here is a letter from Pastor Mike about the event. Letter August 2, 2009 - 6 pm - Ice Cream Social - We had plenty of ice cream, cookies and toppings for a crowd of about 70 people. AND, we also had a surprise birthday party of Pastor Mike. The church bought him a rocking chair which he loved.
August 1, 2009 - 12:00 Noon - Charley & Carolyn Scott renewed their wedding vows at Valley Brook Church, Saturday, August 1st at 12:00 Noon on their 50th wedding anniversary. The ceremony was beautiful and a lot of people showed up to the event. They are a great couple and I wish them another 50 years of marriage bliss. There was a reception at O'Charley's, Northlake, that followed the ceremony. The food was great and the cake was delicious. Thank you Nancy for making the cake.
July 31, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Move - The movie was "Loving Leah." Everyone loved the movie. The movie was free and the popcorn and drinks are at no cost. It is a nice way to unwind after a long week. July 19, 2009 - 6 pm - Sunday Night Sing - Can you sing a solo? How about a duet? Or a trio? Or maybe a quartet? This is your chance to show your stuff. Contact Marcia and tell her you want to sing that Sunday night.
July 11, 2009 - 2pm - The Sonshiners went on a picnic to Stone Mountain and did we have a great time. We cooked steaks, baked potatoes, bread, salads and a variety of desserts. Plus, there was plenty to drink. Thanks to Greg and Robert for the great job they did cooking. Below are some of the pictures of the event.

May 3, 2009 - 6:00 pm - Family Night Supper - The hamburgers and hotdogs were out of this world and there was everything and more to compliment the main meal. And, of course, there were plenty of desserts. Over 80 people attended and all were glad that they came to the feast.

April 15, 2009 - 7 pm - Barry Phillips was our guest speaker. Barry has a growing ministry in the Philippines. It was good to see Barry once again. For more information on the Philippine's mission for to our link below. April 12, 2009 - Easter - Sunrise Service was at 7 am. The temperature was in the 40s, not too cold. The service was wonderful and the birds were singing at the beginning of the service. After the Sunrise service, breakfast was served and it was delicious.
April 9, 2009 - 7 pm - Maundy Thursday - The Maundy Thursday service was a very somber one. But, it made you think about the events of the Last Supper and then the arrest of Jesus and finally his sacrifice on the cross for the sins of the world. April 5, 2009 - 6 pm - Family Night Supper - We had hot baked potatoes with all the trimmings and salads and of course desserts. It was a wonderful time and a lot of people showed up for the event. Come next month for a great meal and a lot of wonderful people to talk with.
April 5, 2009 - 11 am - Easter Cantata - The choir sang their Easter music and did such a wonderful job. Some say they had goose bumps or were close to tears during the performance. March 27, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "Second Chances". It is a good movie and the admission was free along with popcorn and drinks.
March 15, 2009 - 6 pm - Men of Praise in concert. Men of Praise is a 30 member men’s coral group from 1st Baptist Snellville. They came to Valley Brook and put on a great show. We had an "eat and greet" after the concert and got to meet these fine singers. March 8, 2009 - 6 pm - Family Night Supper - We had a great meal and a lot of people showed for the event. If you missed this supper, come next month. You won't regret it unless you are on a strict diet.

February 27, 2009 - 7 pm - Friday Night Movie - The movie was "Fireproof". About forty people showed up which was our largest crowd to date. The movie was great and everyone raved about it. This movie critic gave it 5 thumbs up. |
